Vijayawada:: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu directed the officials of the Civil Supplies and Marketing departments to make onion available at a subsidized price in rythu bazaars. At a review meeting on Saturday, he ordered that action would be taken against those illegally stocking onion. He also ordered that steps be taken in response to the complaints of scarcity made through the toll-free number 1100.
Chittoor:: DSP (Law and Order) of Chittoor police sub-division N.Subba Rao will receive the prestigious Indian Police Medal from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu at the Independence Day celebrations being held in Tirupati on August 15. Two head constables from the division – A Murali Mohan and Chakravarthi would also be receiving the IPMs form the Chief Minsiter.

Nandyal: Following a complaint by TDP leaders, the District Collector has issued notices to Shilpa Cooperative Society and Shilpa Women Cooperative Society immediately. In fact, the society that was formed on September 2, 2010 and are making available the items less than 10% on the MRP. The society was running on loss and no profit basis. According to EC rules, the societies that was running prior to the notification need not be closed but only those after issuance of notification has to be closed. The District Collector reportedly not mentioned any discrepancies in the running of society.
The police arrested three persons and seized 206 packets of ganja each weighing 2kg estimated to be worth over Rs.10 lakh and a truck today. Vizianagaram DSP A.V.Ramana produced the truck driver A.Siva Shankar Reddy, cleaner T.Durga Rao and supplier K.Chinna Rao at a press conference. He said that the truck supplier Y.Sitaramayya was yet to be arrested. The DSP said that Chinna Rao who studied B.Sc., B.Ed. had been allegedly procuring ganja from tribal areas and selling the same to traders at a higher prices.
