Joint Collector gets national award

Srikakulam:: Joint Collector K.V.N.Chakradharababu bagged the national award for his initiative in development of skills among tribal women when he was Project Director of ITDA in Rampachodavaram of East Godavari district. Union Minister for Skill Development Rajiv Pratap Rudy presented the award to Chakradharababu in New Delhi on Wednesday.

PF officer jailed for graft

Visakhapatnam:: Gajjala Raja Kumari, Enforcement Officer, Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, EPF Organization, Regional Office, Guntur was convicted and sentenced to two years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.4,000 by G.Satya Prabhakara Rao, Second Additional Special Judge for CBI cases on Thursday. She demanded a bribe of Rs.7,000 and was caught red-handed while accepting it from the complainant who is a manager of Diagnostic and Research Centre at Guntur.

White paper sought on Polavaram

Rajamahendravaram:: Former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar and former Minsiter Daggubati Venkateswara Rao demanded a White Paper on the Polavaram project. Addressing media after visiting the project site, Vundavalli said the government was obliged to tell the people the amount granted by the Centre till date, the extent of work completed and the date by which the project would be completed and compensation paid to the evacuees under the relief and rehabilitation package. He said the project cost was escalating Rs.10,000 crore every day.

Confused voters can retrace their steps

Kurnool:: Voters inadvertently pressing a wrong button than intended in the EVM due to lack of comprehension would be provided a chance to re-vote if they lodge a complaint in Form No.17 said District Collector S.Satyanarayana. If the first vote was cast as per election guidelines, action would be initiated against the said voter, he said.

AP Wakf Boards election notification issued

Amaravati:: The State government has issued notification for the election of Wakf Board. The voters list will be announced on August 11 and the nominations will be accepted from 11am to 4pm on August 24. The polling will be held on August 31 and the results will be announced at 5pm on the same day.

TVKS Sastry appointed as State honorary president of Brahmin Seva Samakhya

Vijayawada:: T.V.K.S.Sastry has been appointed as Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Seva Sangh Samakhya State honorary president. The Samakhya general secretary Konuru Satish Sharma has handed over the appointment orders.
