Tirupati:: The cracker blast case took a new turn today with the State Human Rights Commission giving it nod for a probe into the alleged employment of child labour in the cracker manufacturing unit that led to the death of two minor boys. The direction came following a complaint filed by Balala Hakkula Sangham, the HRC reportedly issued a notice to the Superintendent of Police, Tirupati Urban directing him to probe the angle of employment of child labour and submit a report by October 16, 2017.
Amaravati:: Minister for Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh has ordered the officials to lay foundation stone for the works of Under Ground Drainage works in villages where the population is over 5,000. He held a review meeting in his chambers in the Secretariat. The officials brought to the notice of the Minister that there were 1,390 villages with population over 5,000 and estimated that Rs.2,600 crore needed for laying of UGD works for 10,000 kms length. The Minister suggested the officials to use 50% of the funds from MGNRES.
Vijayawada:: The Kanaka Durga temple here will be closed on August 7 (Sravana sudda Poornima) due to lunar eclipse. The temple will be closed from 10.56pm on August 7 to 12.52am. The temple will be opened for the pilgrims on August 8 after samprokshana. The Kadgamala Arjitha seva, Trikala archana were suspended on this eve said temple sources.
ANU:: Acharya Nagarjuna University School of Distance Education that conducted M.A.(journalism), MHRM and other courses in the month June the results of which were announced today. The results can be had on http://www.anu.ac.in. Candidates seeking revaluation should submit their applications by August 18 and the fee fixed is Rs.960 per paper.
Amaravati:: The State government will bear the expenditure for establishing of water plants under NTR Sujala Sravanti and orders have been issued on Tuesday. So far, these plants costs were borne by the donors. With this, water plants were established in only 900 places. The government has come forward to bear 24 per cent of the amount if the donor bears 76 per cent of the cost of the plant. Since, there is no response, the government has today issued a GO to bear entire expenses for establishing the water plants.
