  • Vizianagaram:: Union Minister Ashok adopted village bags national award:: Mugada in Badangi mandal that P.Ashok Gajapathi Raju had adopted under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana has been selected for the Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Puraskar 2015-16. The Prime Minister would present the award and a cheque for Rs.10 lakh in New Delhi on April 24 said District Collector Vivek Yadav in a press statement.
  • Kakinada:: Beach tragedy – two more bodies washed ashore:: The bodies of P.Jayakrishna(20) and P.Veera Vamsy (14) were washed ashore near Subbampeta, a fishermen hamlet of Uppada Kothapalli mandal on Sunday. They were among the 18 member tourist party from Kapulapalem who had ventured into the sea at NTR Beach on Thursday late. Of the five persons who had gone missing, the bodies of three were fished out of the same evening.
  • Kakinada:: Nannapaneni Rajakumari seeks action against police officials in Satyam Babu case:; Chairperson of AP Women’s Commission Nannapaneni Rajakumari on Sunday high lightened the need to register cases against police officials responsible for diverting the case and removing them from service in Ayesha Meera case in which Satyam Babu was victimized. She said that she has been following the case for the last ten years and visited the private hostel where the murder was omitted many a times. ‘I have been stating that Satyam Babu is innocent and the case is being diverted to protect the real culprits. With the High Court giving him a clean chit now, I am demanding reinvestigation’, she said. Holding television serials responsible for increase in criminal bent of mind among people, she wondered why all the female characters were being portrayed in bad light. She said that the Commission will urge the government to set up a censor board for TV serials.
  • Vijayawada:: Pitani Satyanarayana takes charge:: Pitani Satyanarayana who has been inducted in the State cabinet as Minister for Labour and Employment has assumed office on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that the government’s focus was on employment generation and giving a boost to industrial sector. He said that the government is encouraging industries with an objective of creating a better society and generate employment.
  • Vijayawada:: Journalists cricket tourney on May 26:: Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists will conduct Father Ferrer State level Journalist cricket tourney from May 26 to June 1 according to APUDWJ State vice president Maccha Linga Reddy. He said that journalists in all the 13 districts who are having accreditations can participate in the tourney.
