Amaravati:: NABARD funds to Garividi College:: The NABARD has sanctioned Rs.81.72 crore loan to Garividi Veterinary Science College for basic infrastructure. Out of this Rs.15.23 crore has to be borne by the State government. The college building would be constructed with the NABARD funds.
Chittoor:: Two women dead by lightning:: Two women were killed on the spot when lightning struck them in Maddi Nayanapalle village of Pakala mandal on Thursday. According to sources, the incident took place when Lakshmi Devamma (4%) an MPTC member and Devamma (40) who were rearing sheep in the nearby meadows ran for cover following a sudden downpour and stood under a tree. In another incident, lightning killed two head of cattle in Thotapalle village of the same mandal.

Kakinada:: Three persons drown while two goes missing:: Three persons died and two children went missing when they ventured into the Suryaraopeta beach here for a swim along with a few other family members on Thursday. Four people were shifted to government hospital in an unconscious state and were said to be out of danger. The family from Kapulapalem went to Nookalamma temple and after darshan, left for Kakinada. Some family members ventured into the sea to take a batch. As the sea was rough, eight persons went missing and the fishermen rushed to the spot and saved four.
Kurnool:: Farmer, son electrocuted:: A farmer, K.Sivanarayana Reddy (55) and his son K.Jagadeeswara Reddy (33) were electrocuted while trying to switch on an electric motor to water their agricultural field in Saidpuram village of Thondur mandal in Kadapa district in the early hours of Thursday. They took part in the Sri Rama Navami festivals until midnight. Jageeswara Reddy was electrocuted when he tried to rescue his father, the police said.
Ongole:: AIDWA demands implementation of liquor bank in phases:: Activists of the All India Democratic Women's Association led by Prakasam district secretary Sk.Munwar Sultana launched a signature campaign demanding that the government ban sale of liquor in phases. She said the Supreme Court's ban on liquor shops within 500 metres of the national and State highways was followed in breach. Forum for Good Governance convener Shamsheer Ahamad inaugurated the campaign.
Vijayawada:: Diwakar bus accident – HRC serves notices:: State Human Rights Commission has issued notices to the District Collector, Transport Commissioner, Management of Diwakar Bus Travels in an accident that took place on February 28 at Penuganchiprolu in Krishna district. The HRC also sent notices to Tehsildar, Sub-Inspector, Nandigama Area Hospital Superintendent to attend before them on Friday personally. It may be recalled that ten persons were killed in the accident. The action came following a petition filed by an advocate in Bezwada Bar Council. It may be recalled that NHRC directs to submit report on ‘Diwakar Bus travels accident’.
