  • Kurnool:: Police arrested two woodcutters:: A special police party led by Reserve Sub-Inspector Swamy Naik opened one round of fire in the air near Somalabavi in Lankamalla reserve forest when about 20 woodcutters from Tamil Nadu tried to attack it by throwing stones on Tuesday. The police party apprehended two woodcutters and seized five red sanders logs from them.
  • Kurnool:: Notification for Express Highway soon:: The notification for the Anantapur-Amaravati National Express Highway would be issued after completing the land acquisition process for it by April end, said Principal Secretary, R&B, Sumita Dawra on Tuesday. Nearly 80 per ent of land acquisition in Kurnool district had been completed and the remaining would be done by the month end, she said. The highway would pass through 27 villages in Kurnool district said District Collector Ch.Vijayamohan.
  • Kakinada:: Three injured in explosion in cracker unit:: Three persons were injured in an explosion at a crackers manufacturing unit in Isukalapeta on the outskirts of Tuni on Wednesday. The injured were identified as Arugula Rajesh, Gaddam Durga Prasad and Sagireddi Musalaiah. Fire personnel battled for two hours to put out the fire. The injured were rushed to Tuni area hospital from there they were shifted to a private hospital in Kakinada.
  • Kakinada:: Ex-gratia to Satyam Babu only after taking legal opinion:: The Home Minister N.Chinarajappa said that the State government is eliciting legal opinion on the issue of paying ex-gratia to P.Satyam Babu who was acquitted by the High Court in the murder case of Ayesha Meera. He said since it is a legal issue, the government cannot take instant decision and the Chief Minster is holding talks with the legal fraternity. A decision would be announced soon, he said.
  • Tirupati:: U.S.Consulate team visits Sri City:: A U.S.Consulate team comprising Counsul General in Hyderabad Ms.Katherine Hadda and Commercial Consul for South India Johan Fleming visited the integrated business township, Sri City on Tuesday. Founder Managing Director Ravindra Sannareddy said that more than 10 U.S.companies including Pepi Co, Cadbury, Colgate Palmolive and Kellogg's had set up their units in the Sri City.
  • Vijayawada:: APCC president plea to President:: AP Congress Committee president N.Raghuveera Reddy has appealed to the President of India to put a stop to the violation of the Anti-Defection Law in the State. In a letter to the President, he said that 21 YSRCP MLAs were admitted into the TDP in the State in violation of the Anti-Defection Law. In another development on April 2, four YSRCP MLAs were taken into the State Cabinet in violation, he said.
