CHITTOOR::Red sanders worth Rs.20 lakh seized:: The Palamaner police on Sunday intercepted an SUV leading to the seizure of red sanders logs worth over Rs.20 lakh. The police arrested one person and seized one SUV. Police sources said that the SUV carrying red sanders logs was on its way to Bengaluru form Tirupati.

GUNTUR: Clerk murder case-four arrested:: The Arundelpet police on Sunday arrested four accused in the murder of a clerk. The police are searching for three more accused. Clerk Srinivasa Rao was murdered and his body was burned near Kotappakonda on March 31. Guntur Urban Additional SP J.Bhaskar said that four persons beat Srinivasa Rao black and blue in the office of Vishnu International at Arundelpet. He succumbed to injuries and the culprits shifted the body to Kotappakonda in a car and burned the body. Some students staying near the office informed the same to police. During investigation, police found that Srinivasa Rao misused Rs.2.50 crore belonging to the company and owner K.V.Sandip Kumar had lodged a complaint with the police and the case was pending.

RAJAMAHENDRAVRAM: Union Minister to lay stone for EPFO office:: Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya is laying the foundation stone for the construction of the sub-regional office of the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization at Morampudi on Monday. The programme will be held at 3.30pm which will be attended by local MP M.Murali Mohan, State Ministers Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, N.Chinarajappa, D.Umamaheswara Rao and local representatives.

VISAKHAPATNAM: Eleven persons killed in a car accident:: Eleven persons including nine of two closely related families were killed on the spot when the car they were travelling rammed into a heavy duty trailer coming in the opposite direction in the other lane near Vedullapem junction of Nakkapalli mandal on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Edalaru Sreenu and his wife Devi, mother-in-law Venkatalakshmi, eldest son Sai, second son Pavan, daughter Durga Aparana, Kadiyam Padma, sister-in-law of Sreenu her eldest son Kumar and daughter Sai. The other two persons who were died were not of the part of the family were D.Chiranjeevi Raju and his son Sagar Varma. According to police, the nine members of the families were travelling from Butchirajupalem of Gopalapatnam of Visakhapatnam to Talupullama Talli temple in Lova in East Godavari district. The accident occurred when the front right tyre of the car burst suddenly and unable to control, the driving hit the divider and rammed into mid-section of the trailer. It took two hours for the police to lift the trailer and clear the debris. The father and son duo was riding a scooter behind the trailer and were into it as the driver of the trailer applied sudden brakes. While Sagar Varma died on the spot, his father Chiranjeevi died on the way to hospital.

DIVIS-MLC joins protest::MLC from the North-Andhra Graduates’ Constituency, MVS Sarma on Sunday joined the protestors- who have been opposing the expansion of the Divis Laboratories and expressed his solidarity with them. Speaking on the occasion, he asked the government to suspend the expansion works and provide employment to the local youth in the industry. The people’s movement in Sompeta has brought down the government and made it cancel the GO regarding thermal power plant . He said that he would raise the Divis expansion in the Legislative ‘Council.

VIJAYAWADA: YSRCP MLA Jyothula Nehru to join TDP:: YSRCP MLA from Jaggampet in East Godavari district Jyothula Nehru will join the TDP a programme in the city on Monday. Nehru was the deputy floor leader of the YSRCP in the Assembly. His behavior in the Assembly is also said to have come under the scrutiny of the three member Assembly panel headed by Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad. The panel is learnt to have sought action against Nehru and others.
