  • Amaravati:: Karem Sivaji appointed as SC and ST Commission Chairman:: The AP government has again appointed Karem Sivaji as the Chairman of SC and ST Commission. It may be recalled that he has to get away from the post following directions from the court last year stating that those who have worked for the welfare of SC/ST are eligible for the post. Subsequently, the government and Sivaji approached the court separately and their petitions were dismissed. The court suggested the government to decide whether the petitioner is eligible for the post or not. With this suggestion, the State government has re-appointed Karem Sivaji in the post.
  • Rajamahendravaram:: Lyricist and poet Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry has suggested that a thorough research be done on the state of Telugu classical literature before Adikavi Nannayya to come a conclusion whether the language existed at that time or not. Addressing a two day national seminar on ‘Millennium Telugu Literature at the Nannaya University on Thursday, he said in contemporary theory, both language and literature enjoyed equal importance. He said that research should be conducted into the connection between the Telugu language and Indian classical culture and urged people to respect all languages but love one’s mother tongue more.
  • Vijayawada:: Meet on tenant farmers’ issue:: The Rythu Swarjya Vedika and the AP Koulu Raitula Sangham will organize a State level discussion on issues pertaining to tenant farmers on March 11 at the Krishna Industrial and Agricultural Exhibition Society here according to a statement issued by Kiran Kumar Vissa of the Vedika.
  • Hyderabad:: YSRCP seeks Chief Minister’s resignation:: YSRCP has demanded that the Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu should resign from his post in the light of notices issued by the Supreme Court in the cash-for-vote scam. Addressing a press conference on Thursday, party leader Botcha Satyanarayana said Chandrababu was known for is tendency to compromise and place his personal interests above the interests of the State. The case may not take its course if he continues in office, he said and added that Chandrababu Naidu’s name was figured several times in the two charge sheets filed by Telangana ACB.
  • Hyderabad: JEE Main hall tickets from March 14:: CBSC has announced that the hall tickets for JEE Main examination can be downloaded from March 14. The examination is being conducted for admissions into NIT, IIIT and Centrally aided educational institutions. JEE main will be held on April 2 in offline and on 8 and 9 through online.
  • Hyderabad:: Special court for ACB summons Sandra Venkata Veeraiah to appear before it on March 31 in ‘Cash for vote’ scam:: The special court for ACB cases while admitting the ACB supplementary charge sheet has summoned Telangana TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah to appear before it on March 31. The judge took the charge sheet into cognizance. It may be recalled that TDP MLA Revanth Reddy was held red-handed while trying to bribe Stephenson.
