Vijayawada:: World Kidney Day-Pawn calls for comprehensive steps:: On the eve of World Kidney Day on March 9, Jana Sena party president Pawan Kalyan said the steps taken by the government to deal with the Chronic Kidney Disease of Unknown Etiology in the Uddanam region of Srikakulam district should be comprehensive. IN a press release, he said that the elected representatives had not acted in the manner they should have to save the thousands of people from the debilitating disease. The people of Uddanam had to spend Rs.8,000 per month per patient.
Vijayawada:: 108 services should be brought under the control of DMHO:: The Committee of Public Accounts suggested that the State government to take necessary steps to streamline 108 services in the State. The Committee met under chairmanship of Buggana Rajendranath Reddy at the Legislature complex at Velagapudi on Wednesday. Sources said that the committee wanted the government to bring 108 ambulance services under the control of DMHO. Replacing tyres of the ambulances after every 50 km of running was the other suggestion. The Committee found that insurance certificates were not being issued to the beneficiaries under Bangaru thalli though the government paid premium on their behalf.
Vijayawada:: GST Seva Kendra opened:: Additional Commissioner of Central Excise and Servie Tax (Guntur) V.Nagendra Rao inaugurated a GST Seva Kendra at the Service Tax Division office on Wednesday. He said that it will provide assistance to the existing central excise and service tax registrants in migrating to the Goods and Service Tax Network. Migration was supposed to be completed by March 31 to facilitate the rollout of GST on July 1.
Hyderabad:: Collectors to decide on compensation:: In a major relief to people whose land and properties are likely to be affected due to work relating to the power sector like laying of transmission/distribution lines and construction of sub-stations, the government has appointed the Collector of the respective district as the authorized officer to finalize the compensation that should be paid to the affected families. APERC chairman G.Bhavani Prasad said that in the event of the affected parties remaining dissatisfied by the compensation announced by the Collector concerned, they can directly approach the Commission with their plea.
