*Chirala::Freelance journalist Nagarjuna Reddy arrested and sent to 15days remand ::Chirala police on Friday night arrested freelance journalist Naidu Nagarjuna Reddy who was attacked by Chirala MLA Amanchi Krishna Mohan brother Swamulu and his followers.Sources said that he was arrested in a case of filed by former counselor Seelam Syam who stated in his complaint that he was scolded in the name of caste. The police produced him in the court that remanded him for 15 days.It may be recalled that the police are on the lookout for the journalist and was taken into custody at Paritala village  while was on his way to Hyderabad High Court  and handed over to Chirala I Town Police. Meanwhile, the Press Council of India is probing the entire episode. It also issued orders to the police not take action like arrests etc., against Nagarjuna Reddy but was arrested. He was shifted to hospital for medical tests and later produced him in a court where he was sent for judicial remand.

*Guntur:: Jagan demands the Markfed to buy chilli::The leader of the Opposition in the AP State Assembly YS Jagan Mohan Reddy demanding the government bring in Markfed to take over the responsibility of buying chilli as the farmers are in distress. Interacting with farmers at the Market Yard in Guntur on Friday, he said spurious seeds were sold indiscriminately and the output has fallen drastically. The input cost has increased steeply but the farmers are not getting the MSP. Unless the Marfed take up the responsibility of buying the produce at a reasonable price, farmers will be badly affected’, he said.

  • Rajamahendravaram:: Vundavalli demands implementation of Reorganization Act:: Former MP Vundavalli Arun Kumar has urged the President to intervene and ensure implementation of the AP Reorganization Act. He had written a letter to the President to this effect and copies to all the MPs from the State. Speaking to media on Friday, he said that under Sections 9 and 10 of the Act, all corporations and institutions in the State should be divided in three years. It is only two months to go to meet the deadline, he said. Properties worth Rs.20,000 crore had not been divided so far between the two Telugu speaking States, he said.
  • Vijayawada:: BJP emerging stronger in the State’, says Anjaneya Reddy:: BJP State spokesman K.Anjaneya Reddy said that the party is set to emerge as a force to reckon with in all the constituencies of the State Legislative Council. The victory in North Andhra graduate’s constituency gave a fillip to the party. Speaking to media on Friday, he said the party was making efforts to win all the graduates’ constituencies in the coming years by building on the goodwill that the Prime Minister had earned for it.
  • Velagapudi:: MLCs oppose preventive arrests:: AP Legislative Council Members V.Balasubramanyam, B.Nageswara Rao and Y.Srinivasulu Reddy on Friday criticized the government for arresting visitors coming to the Assembly to meet public representatives and said that they would move a privilege motion. Raising the issue during the question hour, M.V.N.Sharma asked Home Minister N.Chinarajappa to explain the provisions for preventive arrests and under what circumstance the police could resort to prevent custody of a person. The Home Minister said that persons who were likely to commit cognizable offenses could be taken into preventive custody under Section 151 of Cr.P.C.. The Home Minister said that a police offier can arrest the person without a warrant or orders from a magistrate. But the arrested shall not be in custody for more than 24 hours. Not satisfied with the reply, the members rushed to the well of the House asw to why CPI(M) leaders who had come a few of days ago to submit a representation on the issue of Godavari Aqua Food Park at Tandurru in West Godavari were arrested.
