AgriGold-GO issued for payment of ex-gratia of Rs.5 lakh

The State government has today issued a GO Ms.no.80 dated 12.5.2017 ordering payment of compensation of Rs.5 lakh for each AgriGold depositor or agent who committed suicide.

The GO was issued by the Principal Secretary A.R.Anuradha. The GO said that the legal heirs of the deceased persons will have to prove that they have deposited money with the AgriGold Group of Companies by furnishing the documents such as copy of FIR, death certificate, proof showing relationship of the beneficiary, post-mortem report, legal heir certificate, date of birth certificate (if beneficiary is minor) and affidavit filed by legal heirs of deceased victim explaining the cause of death.

The District Collector concerned will release the amount after the scrutiny committee headed by the District Superintendent of Police conducts an inquiry and furnishes report in this regard. The order said that the default by the AgriGold Group of Companies created distress and panic among lakh of depositors who lost their lifetime savings having deposited in the company.
