The Andhra Pradesh State Fibernet Limited (APSFL) and X Development Centre have entered into a MoU at California.

The MoU was signed in the presence of the Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh at California in the United States. The X Development Centre initially supply 2,000 Free Space Optical Communication links to the State. Its engineers and experts will work together with APSFL, staff in identifying and selecting suitable sites for development of FSOC links.

As part of the partnership and to provide real time support for smooth operation of the project, X will also set up a local office with support of the State government. The government has launched AP Fibergrid project with a view to providing digital connectivity to every household. Minister Lokesh said ‘This significant partnership will offer a major boost to the State’s digital infrastructure and help in overcoming hindrances in digital connectivity. The government was committed to bringing high-speed internet and broadband connections to about 12 million households by March 2019, he said.
