‘No permissions for SCS meetings’, says DGP

Director General of Police N.Sambasiva Rao addressing a press conference here on Tuesday said that no permission was given to hold meetings demanding Special Category Status to the State.

‘We appeal to youth and public not to attend these meetings. If anybody tries to attend these congregations responding to the calls on social media, police will prevent them’, he said. Police are not against any organization or association and people have every right to express their freedom but should in a proper way, he said. He said that the organizers should come forward and take permission from the police by following due legal procedure, he said. He said that there was a chance of anti-social elements entering the field and resorting to violence like that happened in the agitation favoring Jallikattu in Tamil Nadu, he added.

Silent protest at RK Beach

After a Facebook page was uploaded by an anonymous person urging the youth to assemble at the RK Beach on January 26 to take up the protest and actor and Jana Sena president Pawan Kalyan tweeted in it support, a number of actors had joined the chorus. Sai Dharam Tej tweeted ‘It’s time for us to united and fight for what we were promised and deserve#silent protest’.

Nikhil tweeted ‘ In democracy its our right 2 protest but in a peaceful way. 26th Vizag RK Beach, the place 2 let ur voice be heard’.

Varun Tej’s message said ‘Will be supporting anything tht is for the welfare of the people of our state. I support the special staus of AP’.

Sundeep Kishan said ‘Will be taking part in silent protest in Vizag on 26th, to do my bit as a responsible citizen.pl join us’.

Congress plans silent protest:: Meanwhile, in Vijayawada, the Congress will stage silent protests in front of the statues of Mahatma Gandhi on Republic Day demanding that Special Category Status be given for the State. APCC president N.Raghuveera Reddy has appealed to all celebrities, actors and intelligentsia to participate in the protest.

YSRCP takes up ‘Jala Deeksha’::In Tirupati, more than 1,000 YSRCP activists and college students led by party MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy conducted ‘Jala Deeksha’ at Rayalacheruvu tank to demand that the centre accord SCS to the State. They holding placards and banners came in procession to the huge tank. They got into the tank and took waist-deep in water for two hours.
