The Supreme Court of India has decided to continue the ban on registration of diesel vehicles with engine capacity of 2,000 and above in New Delhi will continue.

The apex court had imposed a ban on December 2015 till March 31, 2016 to address rising pollution in the national capital New Delhi. New Delhi’s ban on new diesel cars has unsettled the industry. Chief Justice of India T S Thakur, one of the three judges hearing the case, said the court would consider whether to impose an environmental cess on the sale of diesel cars in New Delhi.
