The Director General of Police N.Sambasiva Rao said that the government would take a decision on handing over of the B.Pharmacy student Ayesha Meera murder case to Central Bureau of Investigation.

The DGP said that the SIT would re-investigate the alleged rape and murder case. It will re-analyze the witnesses in the ten-year old case, he added. Mahila Commission Chairperson Nannapaneni Rajakumari speaking to media said that the SIT should be headed by a woman police officer and the majority of the members should be women.

She said that the government should list out the police officers who acted negligently and misled the court in the case and action should be taken against them as per directions of the High Court. Ayesha’s parents and women’s organizations demanded a CBI probe, the government constituted a SIT. The Commission will accompany Ayesha Meera’s family members to the Chief Minister and see that the case is handed over to CBI, said Nannapaneni Rajakumari.
