The Andhra Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Corporation conceived 12 schemes for the benefit of Brahmins below poverty line in the State said its Chairman Anand Surya.

Speaking to media, he said Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu constituted the corporation and allocated Rs.220 crore to it. The corporation would disburse financial assistance of Rs.87 crore among 44,000 poor students, he said. Loans would be disbursed through the Brahmin Cooperative Credit Society and assistance extended under ‘Chanakya’, ‘Bharathi’, ‘Kasyap’, ‘Garuda’ and other schemes.

The Chairman said that he would review the progress with officials of the Cooperative Department, district coordinator and Archaka Sangham leaders in Vijayawada from July 3 to 6.

Corporation’s district coordinator Samudrala Hanumantha Rao said burial ground would be developed under the ‘Bhargava’ scheme with 50% funding by the corporation. Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh sanctioned Rs.30 lakh from MPLAD fund for constructing a community hall for Brahmins in Kurnool. MLA S.V.Mohan Reddy contributed Rs.30 lakhs for constructing a building for conducting the customary ritual.
