YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that the party would field a candidate in the by-election to the Nandyal Assembly constituency that fell vacant following the untimely death of Bhuma Nagi Reddy.
Speaking to media at the Assembly premises, he said that it was the philosophy of the YSRCP not to field a candidate in a by-election if a sitting MLA passes away. ‘ Had Nandyal not been our seat, we would not have contested. But the YSRCP has been representing the Nandyal constituency. Hence, the party would contest the by-election definitely’, he said.
Justices in staying away from condolence meet::
The YSRCP justified its decision to stay away from the Assembly that met to condole the sudden death of Bhuma Nagi Reddy. Party MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy speaking to media said that party president Jagan Reddy took the decision to avoid embarrassment to Bhuma family. Apart from his good deeds, we will have to speak about his crossing over to the TDP undermining the elevation given to him by the party including appointment as head of the PAC. By staying away, our party leaders avoided bringing to light certain hard facts, he said. He attributed Bhuma’s sudden death to prolonged mental agony and harassment caused by the TDP leadership. It failed him to take him into the Cabinet, a promise that prompted him to leave the YSRCP, he said.
