YSRCP Pathikonda constituency in charge Cherukulpadu Narayana Reddy and his aide Sambasivudu were murdered by a rival faction at Rmakrishnapuram in Krishnagiri mandal of the district today.
According to sources, the incident took place near a culvert after his car being hit from behind by a tractor. Around 20 to 25 members of the rival group hurled bombs, dragged him and his Sambasivudu out of the car and attacked them with hunting sickles and knives them on the spot.
Narayana Reddy was returning to Krishnagiri after attending marriages at Nandyal and Veldurthi when the attack took place. Narayana Reddy was a close relative of former Union Minister Kotla Jayaprakash Reddy was unsuccessfully contested against deputy Chief Minister K.E.Krishna Murty as Congress candidate form the Pathikonda constituency in the last general elections. He later joined YSRCP.
Narayana Reddy has deposited his revolver with the olice for renewal of its licence and had urged the government to provide security as he faced threat to this life. Kurnool SP A.Ravikrishna visited the scene who said that he was not aware of Narayana Reddy applied for renewal of licence of his revolver. Three teams were constituted to nab the assailant, he said. A sniffer dog squad and a Clues team were pressed into service and police pickets were posted in Cherukulpadu and Veldurthi to avert any flare up in law and order.
Jagan to meet Governor:: YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will be meeting the Governor ESL Narasimhan on Monday to lodge a complaint against the TDP indulging in murder politics with the help of uniformed personnel at 10am. Jagan will after the meeting with the Governor will arrive Kurnool to participate in the final rites of the departed leaders.
Kurnool Bandh:: YSRCP has given a bandh call in Kurnool on Monday in protest against the murder of the party leader. Party district president Gouri Venkata Reddy in a statement alleged that the murder politics are increasing day by day. He said that the opposition party leaders are indulging in the criminal activities following good response the YSRCP is getting in the district.
