YSRCP alleges land scam in Capital Region by TDP leaders and ministers

YSRCP has demanded that the Central Government order an inquiry into the illegal acquisition of land by senior Telugu Desam Party leaders on the periphery of the capital region Amaravati ahead of the announcement of the new capital by the government.

YSRCP leader Botcha Satyanarayana said that the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and his coterie had prior knowledge about the new capital and they and purchased vast tracts of land in and around the capital region before the announcement of new capital city was made. He said that it is a breach of privilege and misuse of official position. He demanded that the Centre should order an inquiry to ascertain the land transactions that took place in the region of the TDP came to power.

The leading Telugu news daily ‘Saakshi’ has published the details of the scam in its March 2 and 3rd editions that created tremors in the minds of TDP leaders, ministers and others who purchased the lands either in the name of their spouses or binamies.

Botcha Satyanarayana said that the TDP leaders including ministers of State and Central have purchased the lands majority of them either in their names or under benami transactions. He alleged that senior leaders who acquired lands at throwaway prices did not come under the green zone norms that were surrendered by poor and marginal farmers.

Leaders of political parties respond:

  • On the story published in ‘Saaksh’, various leaders of political parties demanded in their own way. APCC president N.Raghuveera Reddy responding over it demanded an inquiry by a sitting Supreme Court Judge. He said that the news published by the paper is only 10 per cent of the corruption and still have to expose the misdeeds of the TDP, he said.
  • CPI State Secretary K.Ramakrishna demanded a probe by a High Court Judge over the entire scam. Speaking at the party office in Vijayawada, Ramakrishna said that the outburst of the scam is shameful to the State.
  • BJP State representative Sudheesh Rambotla responding over the news said that it is the duty of the government to present the facts before the public . As a friendly party to it, he said that the issue will be taken up to the party high command.
  • Lok Satta general secretary Bheesetti Babji said that the Governor has to order an inquiry by a sitting judge and to constitute a committee to oversee the entire process.
  • OC Welfare Society national president Karunakar Reddy responding over this wanted the Prime Minister to order a CBI probe in the entire episode.
  • CPI Central Committee member K.Narayana said that the government has to take over such lands under land acquisition Act. He wanted an inquiry on the purchase of assigned lands given to the poor people.
