YSRCP Nagari MLA R.K.Roja on Tuesday launched a legal battle against the Andhra Pradesh State Police for ‘trampling on her rights’ when she came to attend the National Women’s Parliament.
Roja went to Gannavaram and filed a private case against DGP N.Sambasiva Rao, two Assistant commissioners of Police and a Circle Inspector in the Additional Junior Civil Judge. The court posted the case for hearing on March 3.
Roja speaking to media here said that it would be wrong on her part if she did not fight against the injustice meted out to her as an MLA. ‘My inaction will embolden others to violate the rights of common women and even perpetrate atrocities against them’, she said. ‘Don’t I belong to this State? There are elected representatives who have houses in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Are they going to be flown to these places? she asked. She said that the entire nation was witness to the way she had been treated because the national media reported it.
