The Supreme Court of India today directed the High Court to take the proceedings on the petition filed by YSRCP MLA Roja who was suspended from Andhra Pradesh State Assembly for one year. The court also expressed its anger over the way the Assistant Registrar’s acted in the case. The court observed that the Assistant Registrar should have taken steps in the case. The Apex court ordered the High Court to take the case for hearing on Wednesday morning. A Division Bench comprising of Justice Gopala Goud, Justice Arun Mishra have given the directions.
It may be recalled that she was suspended under Rule 340(2) for her alleged remarks in Call money sex racket that rocked Andhra Pradesh Assembly. The Speaker based on the recommendations of Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu placed her under suspension for one year on voice vote.
