Women organizations demand to suspend him from MLA post

The objectionable comments of TDP Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna on women at an audio function in Hyderabad created an all-round criticism from women organizations and also from various circles.

These comments were made by a responsible MLA representing Hindupur constituency at the audio function of ‘Savitri’ movie audio function the main role played by Nara Lohit at Hyderabad on Saturday which was attended by thousands of fans. He attended the function as the Chief Guest. Balakrishna who had three decades of movie career has passed the comments in a most irresponsible way.

The women organizations and representatives, leaders of political parties including general public are finding fault with his comments. They demanded immediate resignation from his MLA post or the Speaker to interfere and suspend him.

Joint Action Committee of Lawyers filed a complaint with Saroornagar police on actor turned politician Balakrishna for his irresponsible comments on women. They have also handed over a video tape of the comments made by Balakrishna.

Balakrishna tenders apology

Later in the night, Hindupur MLA Nandamuri Balakrishna regretting that the remarks pertaining to some filmy scenes he made in a lighter vein were misconstrued and appealed to the people not to misread his intention. ‘I have enormous respect for women and it is our family tradition to regard any woman as a member of our family. It is a trait we inherited from our father to treat women like our sisters’, he said. He reiterated that the remarks he made in a film-related event were not intended against any one. ‘I tender my apology if my remarks hurt any one’, said Balakrishna.
