Wi-Fi in panchayats- State submits DPR to Centre

Andhra Pradesh State Government in its DPR submitted to the Union Government said that after completion of the Fibre network project, every Gram Panchayat will be enabled with free Wi-Fi for an hour.

The Wi-Fi will be made available to the people for free of cost for an hour in every gram panchayat. The Fiber network will be made available to 25 government offices in the district headquarters, 10 offices in every mandal office and three offices in gram panchayat office. This facility will be extended to all municipal corporations, municipalities. The estimated cost of the project is Rs.4,320 crore and is being shared by both the State Government and the Central Government. The State Government has asked the Centre for release of Rs.3, 590 crore as its share and the rest of Rs.730 crore will be borne by the State Government. The report is under active consideration of the Central Telecom and IT departments according to sources.
