Welfare party of India to approach court in support of Yerpedu victims

Welfare party of India president Shabbir Ahmed said on Saturday that they would approach court if necessary in support of the victims of Yerpedu incident in which 17 persons will killed and over dozens of people injured.

He said that Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is too responsible for the incident as he was encouraging liquour sales in the State along with the driver who consumed liquor and drove the vehicle killing the poor people. He said that the party works for liquor free society.

Demands Rs.25 lakh ex-gratia:: Meanwhile, former Minister and Congress leader S.Sailajanath speaking to media at the press club demanded the government to pay Rs.25 lakh as an ex-gratia to the victims’ families. He demanded immediate payment of Rs.10 lakh to those injured in the incident.

Meanwhile, YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy will be visiting Yerpedu on Sunday to console the families of the victims. According to Gangadhara Nellore MLA Narayanaswamy, Jagan will arrive Renigunta at 9am and will proceed on road to Munagalapalem, Musilipedu, Ravillavaripalle, Arundhativada and Yerpedu.

It may be recalled that 15 persons killed when truck rams into crowd near police station and many injured initially and the death toll rose to 17 according to sources.

It may be mentioned here that the government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs.5 lakh immediately on the day of the accident.

The owner of the lorry Tambisetty Ramesh was taken into custody by Nagalapuram police. Earlier, the police conducted serches at his residence. Sources said that while the driver Guravaiah was in police custody while the cleaner Subramanyam who was said to be in the lorry at the time of accident was absconding. Police are conducting searches for the cleaner.
