Vijayawada In the wake of sensational Call Money scandal, Vijayawada City Police Commissioner Gautam Sawang was reportedly sent on leave.
YSRCP spokesperson Ambati Rambabu said that the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu in an attempt to save the TDP leaders accused in the case, has sent Vijayawada City police commissioner Gautam Sawang on leave. Speaking to the media, Ambati Rambabu demanded the Chief Minister to give an explanation on the necessity of sending the Police Commissioner on leave.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Police JV Ramudu said that no one who is guilty will be left unpunished in the call money scam. He said that PD Act would be slapped on those who threaten the borrowers. When asked about why the Commissioner of Police was sent on leave, the DGP said that Gautam Sawang had applied for leave a month ago. Budda Nageswara Rao, an accused in the case was arrested and seized promissory notes that valued over crores of rupees and documents were seized by the police.
The police so far have taken 57 persons into custody. APCC has filed a case in National Human Rights Commission. Party State President N Raghuveera Reddy said that the gang members have looted thousands of poor families.
Surendra Babu will discharge the duties of the Vijayawada City Police Commissioner during the leave period of Gautam Sawang.
