The Andhra Pradesh Transport Department is all set to launch online services on March 1 and the facility would be extended to other areas in the State in a phased manner.

Under the new system, motorists in Visakhapatnam city need not visit Road Transport Authority (RTA) offices for vehicle registration. The new vehicle owners will get the registration through e-mail within 24 hours after buying the vehicle.

RTA Commissioner N.Balasurbamanyam said that people who purchase vehicles from auto-mobile dealers in Vizag RTA limits (excluding Gajuwaka and Anakapalle RTA offices) must have to carry a valid ID proof such as Aadhaar card, Driving License and also a PAN card for commercial vehicles. The valid ID proofs need to be uploaded at the automobile showrooms in the city soon after the purchase of vehicle and the dealer will send the details of the vehicle and owner of the vehicle to RTA office through a login-id. The vehicle owner will get temporary registration immediately and he will get the permanent registration number by 5pm on the same day of the vehicle purchase.

As many as 55 auto-mobile dealers in the city have been trained on the new system and given dealer login IDs. The RTA will also send the PDF copy of the vehicle’s RC to the owner immediately and even they lose them they could download again without visiting the RTA office.
