Union government reviews projects in Andhra and Telangana

The Union Home Ministry reviewed the progress of several educational and infrastructure projects in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as promised under Schedule 13 of the AP Reorganization Act, 2014.

Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba discussed the progress of 18 projects with Chief Secretaries of both the States. A senior Home Ministry official said the progress was reviewed and measures would be taken to implement the pending ones.

The progress of IIT, Tirupati was discussed, the classes have already started from there. Land has been allotted and construction has started, Rs.135 crore has been allotted for the agriculture university, said the official. According to the AP Reorganization Act, the Centre shall take steps to establish institutions of national importance in the 12th and 13th planning periods in Andhra Pradesh.
