East Coast Railway bagged Pt.Govind Ballabh Pant Shield for over all performjance.
Indian Railways celebrates Railway Week from 10th to 16th April every year to commemorate the introduction of first train in Indian social on 16th April 1853 between Boribnunder (Mumbai) to Thane.
Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu has inaugurated the function at Bhubaneswar in Odisha on April 16. Speaking on the occasion, the Railway Minister said that the development this region has been an article of faith for railways. Railway connectivity is obviously an important factor in the development process. He said that Indian Railways is committed to create adequate railway infrastructure in east coast region.
Altogether 143 railway employees and officers were awarded on this occasion for their outstanding performance. 25 shields were also given to different zonal railways, production units for their better performance and achievements.
The Six Efficiency Shields awarded for SCR were for Comprehensive Healthcare, Stores, Commercial, Civil Engineering, Safety and Environment Management. Nadyal Running Room, Guntur Division was adjudged as the Second Best on Indian Railways. In the Individual Awards Category, four of SCR’s Officers and Staff -Shri P. Chaitanya, Senior Divisional Operations Manager, Secunderabad Division; Shri M. Ramesh Kumar, Senior Divisional Engineer, Guntakal Division; Shri D. Jayakar,Sr. Section Engineer, Signal, Secunderabad Division and Shri S. Tarakeswara Rao, Sr. Technician, Electric Loco Shed, Lallaguda received the Individual “Outstanding Service Award” at All India Level. In addition, Shri K Hari Kishore, Secretary to Chief Commercial Manager, SCR was awarded (Joint Winner) of English Essay Competition in Gazetted Category and Smt. Feroze Fathima, Office Superintendent, IRISET, Secunderabad got the award in Non-Gazetted Category.
