Union Finance Minister promises special package while Governor demands SCS

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today assured the TDP that announcement would be made on special package for the State and four of the other 19 demands of the party.

This came following a meeting with a TDP delegation led by Union Minister Y.S.Chowdary and State Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and BJP president Amit Shaw , State president K.Hari Babu and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. Sources said that Arun Jaitley reportedly assured the commitment on special package, formation of railway zone, establishment of a greenfield crude oil refinery in Kakinada and a steel plant in YSR Kadapa district. These could be met before the end of the Parliament session.

Centre should grant SCS’, says Governor:: Meanwhile, the Governor of AP and Telangana States ESL Narasimhan in his speech in the Assembly today focused on expediting the resolution of all provisions incorporated in the AP State Reorganization Act and the assurances in relation to it including grant of SCS. However, there was no mention of the special package in the 58 page speech. It may be recalled that he in his speech in last year Budget session had said ‘in fact, but for the name everything that would have accrued to the State under SCS would be available under the Special Assistance. My government wants this special assistance to the accorded legal sanction. My government will achieve legal sanction to the special assistance’, he said.
