The Group of Ministers constituted to frame the norms for payment of un-employment allowance will submit its report by June to enable to submit the same to the State Cabinet in July.
Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare Kollu Ravindra speaking to media said that the government was collecting data and formulating guidelines for the scheme. Data was being gathered from various sources including employment exchanges. The State government earmarked a budget of Rs.500 crore for the scheme and if required another Rs.500 crore would be spent.
BC Welfare Minister Kinjarapu Atchannaidu said the data available with the government on unemployment was no cohesive. While the Janmabhoomi data pointed that there were 14 lakh unemployed youth, a survey put it at 13 lakh.
The GoM was examining the models adopted by other States. In West Bengal, the government was providing unemployment dole ranging between Rs.1,000 and Rs.1,500 and some States are paying Rs.200.
