US aircraft crash – Doctors couple from the State killed

In an aircraft Piper Archer PA-28 crashed into a retention pond near Waterford, Washington Country, near Beverly on July 8, a US based doctor’s couple Dr.Kalapatapu Umamaheswara Rao (63) and his wife Dr.Sithageetha (61) were killed.

According to sources, Dr.Umamaheswara Rao was a native from Machilipatnam while his wife Sithageetha hailed form Guntur. They were flying from Logansport, Indiana, to Parkersburg, West Virginia. Dr.Umamaheswara Rao was flying the aircraft.

A flight service reported that it lost contact with the plane at 10.36am on Saturday. Dr.Umamaheswara Rao was graduated from Guntur Medical College where he married Sithageetha, a classmate of Dr. Umamaheswara Rao. They migrated to US in 1980 and were survived by three children.

Dr.Umamaheswara Rao was running five clinics in the United States. He is the last son of ten children in the family of Appa Rao who was a judge. Sources said that Umamaheswara Rao engaged the private plane some 15 years ago to look after his clinics.
