Senior Telugu actor Ranghanath (66) committed suicide at his residence today. He was found hanging himself in the kitchen at his Kachiguda residence by his family members at around 4pm.
It was learnt that Ranganath took the extreme step when the servant maid was not in the house. His family members broke open the doors and found him hanging in kitchen. A complaint has been lodged with with the police expressing doubts over his death.
The original name of Ranghanath is Tirumala Sundara Sri Ranghanath. Born in Chennai in 1949, Ranganath graduated (B.A.) from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and worked as ticket collector in Indian Railways for some time. He had two daughters and one son. He entered the movie field while working as Trainee Ticket Collector. He began his cine career with the movie ‘Buddimantudu’ and was introduced to the field as hero in the movie ‘Chandana’ in 1974. He worked for over 300 films but he got fame with the movie ‘Pantulamma’ He also made his appearance in some Television serials. He worked as hero in over 50 movies and as vilan with equal number.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP chief Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed condolences over his death.
Ranganath appeared in a number of movies. Some of the movies that he acted in are:
