Transgenders have decided to build a temple for the Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu with a silver statue weighing five kg at Transgenders Colony in Nandyal.

Pedisela Vijay Kumar, president of Indian National Samatha Hijdas’ Rights Ikya Porata Samithi said that the temple would be constructed as a token of gratitude. It may be recalled that Chandrababu Naidu during his election tour of Nandyal announced the establishment of a welfare board for transgenders besides promising a monthly pension of Rs.1,000, ration cards, pucca houses, identity cards and self-employment loans. No government since Independence had paid attention to their welfare, said Vijay Kumar.

He said that transgenders at a meeting at Nandyal unanimously decided to build the temple at an estimated cost of Rs.10 lakh on five cents of land. He also thanked Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan for promising to give Assembly tickets to transgenders.
