Suspended judge Prabhakar Rao died under suspicious circumstances

Judge D. Prabhakar Rao who was suspended in Gali Janardhana Reddy bail scam died here today under suspicious circumstances at his Marredpally residence.

Marredpally police booked a case u/s 174 of Cr.P.C and shifted the body to Gandhi Hospital for post-morteum. Police suspect it as a cardiac arrest but also investigating the case in a suicide angle.

It may be recalled that Judge Prabhakar Rao was placed under suspension for his alleged role in ‘cash-for-bail’ scam of Gali Janardhana Reddy in 2012. ACB had registered a case against Prabhakar Rao in 2012 for his alleged role in the episode that saw three district judges including a CBI court special judge getting suspended. There were allegations of secret deliberations and exchange of cash for ensuring bail to Gali Janardhan Reddy in 2012. The suspended judges included T Pattibhirama Rao and K Lakshminarasimha Rao.

Family members rules out of suicide::
Prabhakara Rao (62) belonging to Nalgonda was staying at his house ‘Prema Nilayam’ on street No.7 in East Maredpally. His wife Dr. Marilyn Prabhalatha, a government doctor said that he was totally innocent and though the false allegations pained him very much and was not coward to commit suicide. Since his release from jail, he preferred to stay along. His wife and son stayed at their Kompally residence while he stayed along at their East Maredpally house. His daughter Susan is in the US studying MS in medicine and his son is in the final year of medicine. The family members said that a massive heart attack seems to have killed him.
