Supreme Court dismisses plea against cancellation of visa of Taslima Nasreen

The Supreme Court today dealing with an appeal filed by an NGO against Delhi High Court order in the case seeking cancellation of visa of Bangladeshi author Taslima Nasreen.

A bench comprising of Chief Justice T.S.Thakur and Justice U.U.Lalit while dismissing the appeal filed by NGO ‘All India Human Rights and Social Justice Front seeking cancellation of her visa alleging that she has been violating the Foreigners Order of 1948 and the Foreigners Act of 1946 by airing her views on every issue without prior permission. The counsel for the petitioners said that the authorities are granting permission to her for a period beyond 180 days which is not permissible. It may be recalled that the Delhi High Court had dismissed the PIL saying that it has no public interest.
