State to host special UN Session

The Government of India is likely to recommend Andhra Pradesh to host the proposed special session of the United National Organization.

Taking into account of the State’s 11.72% growth rate, which is more than double the national growth rate in the first quarter of 2017-18, the NITI Aayog has suggested its name to the Centre. This is in recognition of the State’s sustainable development activities and programmes which can achieve the goals stipulated by the UNO, said a release.

UNO has set 17 sustainable development goals for the next year and is planning to conduct a special session to showcase the activities in 100 countries. In a telephonic conference on the topic with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials on Sunday, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu appreciated the heads of key departments for the State’s impressive growth rate.
