The State Government has sent proposals to the Medical Council of India seeking permission for a fresh of 145 new PG medical seats in the State.
The government has sought the additional seats in six government medical colleges. Anantapur Government Medical College, Ongole RIMS college are included in the list of the report sent. It may be noted that the Anantapur Medical College did not have PG seats for the last fifteen years and had only 100 MBBS seats. Even for RIMS, Ongole too did not have PG seats for the last two years.
As of now, many medical colleges did not have any basic amenities and the MCI allots seats based on the basic amenities. MCI officials will be visiting in the next month for inspection.
At present there were 622 PG medical seats in government colleges and 747 PG seats in private medical colleges
