State government to construct 19,000 houses by Sankranti

The State government will construct 1.93 lakh houses about 19,000 will be ready by next Sankranti for occupation.

Over 1.20 lakh houses will be constructed in urban areas by inviting tenders for the urban housing scheme. The average construction price is pegged at Rs.1,567 per sq.ft. though the cost of construction various from district to district.

The houses are being constructed under the Affordable Housing Programme component of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Housing for All and Economically Weaker Section houses. AP Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation has been identified as the nodal agency for the construction in urban areas. The houses for weaker sections will be constructed in 300, 365 and 430 sq.ft. in ground plus three model.

According to sources, the unit cost is set to Rs.3.50 lakh while the Central government subsidy is Rs.1.50 lakh, State government subsidy is Rs.1 lakh, beneficiary contribution is Rs.25,000 and bank loan is Rs.75,000.
