State government to conduct ‘griha pravesam’ of one lakh houses on October 2

Minister for Housing, Information and Public Relations Kaluva Srinivasulu in a review meeting today said that the government will conduct ‘griha pravesam’ of one lakh houses constructed under the NTR Rural Housing Scheme.

Speaking to press, he said that the government was constructing 10 lakh houses across the State for the houseless. Of this, two lakh houses would be constructed in rural areas. The houses that were sanctioned under the Indira Awas Yojana prior to 2014 would be completed. But, a majority of them were stopped midway of construction. The government sanctioned Rs.500 crore for completion of those house, he said. The government will release Rs.25,000 to each beneficiary under IAY. As many as two lakh houses will be completed.

The Minister said that two lakh houses were sanctioned in 2016-17, permission was given to 1,99,832 houses. Of this, work relating to 1,66,034 houses began and 70,893 houses were completed. Technical issues cropped up with regard to 33,966 houses were resolved, he said.
