State government made Telugu compulsory in all schools

The State government has decided to implement Telugu as compulsory language in all schools including the schools following the syllabus framed by the CBSE, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education and the International Baccalaureate.

The School Education Department said since the schools affiliated to the Boards of the CBSE, the ICSE and the IB were not covered by the provisions of the AP Education Act, 1982, the department have to confine implementation of the proposed rule to schools governed by the State Board.

The Chief Minister in an official document signed today asked the Education department officials to pursue the case with the Central government and ensure implementation of Telugu language in all educations institutions till Intermediate level.
