State government goes by national pool proposal in medical seats

The Minister of Health Dr.Kamineni Srinivas said that the State government has decided to accept the Centre’s proposal to join the national pool with regard to the seats in the Under Graduate and Post Graduate Medical courses.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that the government was apprehensive that Article 371D would be a hurdle to join the national pool and the Centre allayed the apprehensions. Andhra Pradesh would have to earmark 285 (15%) seats to the pool. In turn, the State students can compete for 4,442 seats available across the country.

As many as 415 Post Graduate seats would be earmarked for the national poll and 6,665 seats would be available for them, he said. It was decided to file either a revision petition or Special Leave Petition to save the future of Fatima College issue, he said.
