State Cabinet decides to release 400 life convicts

  • The released has to appear before the probation officers/PS concerned once in three months.
  • To execute a personal bond of Rs.50,000 each

The State Cabinet meeting held today has taken a decision to free 400 life convicts on a special remission of sentence on the eve of Republic Day. Their release will be subject to the condition that they should appear before the probation officers/police stations concerned once in every three months till the completion of unexpired portion of sentence and execute a personal bond of Rs.50,000 each.

Another decision is that the Ministers have taken are to expedite the Handri-Neeva, Galeru-Nagari, Gundlakamma and Thotapalli projects, speed up the construction of Diaphragm wall of the Polavaram project and allot 1,070 acres near S.Rayavaram in Visakhapatnam to Indian Navy for establishment of an alternative Naval base and lay Cement Concrete roads in all villages under the ‘Chandranna bata’ programme’.
