Assembly Speaker Dr.Kodela Siva Prasada Rao laid the foundation stone for the temporary administrative building and classrooms of AIIMS-Mangalagiri.
It is estimated to cost Rs.6 crore at the Siddhartha Medical College. The speaker said that it was the State government’s endeavor to get the AIIMS to begin classes from 2018-19 academic year itself as more than three years had passed since bifurcation. The AIIMS would give a big boost to medical education in the State, he said.
The new government General Hospital here had been developed at a cost of Rs.90 crore and steps were taken to improve the standards in all government hospitals in the State. Minister for Health Dr.Kamineni Srinivas said ground was being prepared for the construction of a super speciality hospital at SMC at a cost of nearly Rs.150 crore. The AIIMS would have 50 seats initially. At its campus SMC, the AIIMS would consist of seven blocks, an AC lecture gallery and other facilities.
