SIT arrests Congress former MLA Malladi Vishnu in spurious liquor case

A Special Investigation Team headed by senior IPS officer Mahesh Chandra Laddha has on Thursday night at around 11.15pm arrested former Congress MLA and Congress District President Malladi Vishnu (A-9) and his brother Malladi Srinivas for their alleged involvement in spurious liquor case.

The SIT has interrogated him for over 12.30 hours on Wednesday and also on Thursday finally announced the arrest of the Congress leader. The officials have interrogated Bhaghavatula Sarchandra, Kavooru Poornachandra Sharma, K.A.Lakshmi except Tripurasundaramma mother of Vishnu. They were interrogated them at a special room in Krishna Lanka police station. During interrogation, the officials found different versions of Vishnu and not satisfied with his version has finally arrested him.

It may be recalled that five persons died and 32 others were hospitalized after consuming spurious liquor at Swarna Bar and Restaurant on December 7.
