The State government has rechristened the Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Castes Sub-Plan and Tribal Sub-Plan and as SC, ST Sustainable and Inclusive Development Fund.
The State government decided to spend 25 per cent of the Sub Plan funds for income generation schemes. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu called a meeting to review the implementation of decisions taken in third meeting of State Council for Development of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes on Tuesday.
The funds allocated under the Sub-Plan should be spent in the same financial year, said the Chief Minsiter. He said that the 125-foot-tall Ambedkar statue should be completed by next year. The Ambedkar Smriti Vanam which is being built on a 15 acre site at Amaravati should be completed by December next year. A study centre would be set up at Eluru at a cost of Rs.5 crore, construction of Girijan Bhavan in all 13 districts was discussed. Each Girijan Bhavan is estimated to cost Rs.1.35 crore.
