A Division Bench of Hyderabad High Court comprising of Justices C.V.Nagarjuna Reddy and Shyam Prasad today declared that S.Rajendra Prasad, advocate from Vijayawada would be the special public prosecutor in the criminal cases at Visakhapatnam wherein the Greyhounds police were accused of outraging the modesty of tribal women at Vakapalli in 2007.
The Registrar was asked to obtain consent from him and place it on record. The Bench was disposing of appals filed by the accused police and the State government. The tribal women had alleged that the Greyhounds police raided their hamlet in the Eastern Ghat forests and outraged their modesty in 2007.
The Division Bench had called for seven names of senior lawyers from the State of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Today, the Bench took opinion of Vasudha Nagraj, the counsel for the tribal women and said the advocate from Vijayawada Rajendra Prasad would be the special prosecutor. The State government said it had no objection.
