Rushiteswari case- Former Principal Babu Rao arrested and remanded to judicial custody

Former principal of Acharya Nagarjuna University College of Architecture and Planning G.Babu Rao was today arrested and was remanded to 14 days judicial custody for abetting a B.Arch 2nd year student Mondi Rushiteswari.

The police arrested him at Hyderabad following a NBW issued by the court and produced him before the VI Additional Munisiff Magistrate Court. The court ordered for 14 days judicial custody and lodged him in the district prison.

It may be recalled that a second year B.Arch student Mondi Rushiteswari was found hanging in her room at the ladies’ hostel on July 14, 2015 and the police have arrested three students – Dumpa Hanisha, Dharavat Jaicharan and Narala Srinivas on various charges. The students became furious over the police in filing charge sheet against the accused number 4 – the principal G.Babu Rao. Murali Krishna, father of Rushiteswari alleged that Babu Rao refused to action against seniors charged with ragging that resulted in the suicide of her daughter
