Ravela Susheel booked under Nirbhaya Act

The Banjara Hills police have booked Ravela Susheel son of the State Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu u/s 354 (Nirbhaya Act) of IPC and his driver N.Ramesh.

They were asked to report themselves at the police station within 48 hours. The duo were booked under Sec.509 and 324 of IPC for allegedly misbehaving with a woman teacher on Friday. West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police A.Venkateswara Rao after examining and speaking with all witnesses, Section 354 was added to the existing sections.

It may be recalled that the victim lodged a complaint with Banjara Hills Police after passing some comments, Ravela Susheel tried to pull her into his SUV. The DCP said that they have sent notices as per the Supreme Court guidelines. If they do not respond within 48 hours, due procedure will take place, he said.

Meanwhile Susheel has posed a clarification that while coming form the Ministers Quarters in Banjara Hills, he slowed down as he spotted a puppy on the road. ‘As I am really fond of pets, I went and picked it up after which the lady who was near the vehicle without any specific reason started abusing and shouting at me. The incident is a cruel act by our political opponents’. However, the CCTV footage on the incident became viral and showed the SUV moving close to the burqa clad woman before slowing down near her.

AP Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said on Saturday that a case has been booked on his son. He said that the Telangana police were investigating into the case and it would bring to light what had actually happened. No one would interfere with the police investigation. I would not tolerate such behavior by any one’, he said. I have utmost faith and trust in the law and there is no scope for any criticism during this time’, he said.
