Ravela Susheel arrested and remanded for judicial custody

Andhra Pradesh Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu’s son Ravela Susheel and his driver M.Ramesh were arrested by Banjara Hills police on Sunday morning on charges of outraging modesty of a woman.

The police produced them before a court that remanded them to 14 days judicial custody. The Banjara Hills police booked cases under Section 354 of Nirbhaya Act, 354D and 509 of IPC against both the accused.

DCP (West) A.Venkateswara Rao speaking to media on Sunday said that they have initially invoked section 509 against one Apparao and another person. On investigation, he said that had gathered more evidence and added two more Sections 354D and 509. On enquiry, we came to know that the driver’s name is Ramesh and not Appa Rao and the occupant in the car was Ravela Susheel. He said that the police are acting in a more professionally way. We are going as per the content of the complaint. Our teams are checking the footage recorded by closed circuit cameras installed on the stretch to ascertain the facts, he said.

Source said that Susheel came to police along with his advocate came to the police station at around 1.30am and surrendered. Efforts to obtain bail failed.

The police have produced him before the magistrate at his residence and the advocate moved a bail petition. The magistrate has directed the police to file a counter and posted the case to March 8, 2016. The police have shifted them to Chanchalguda Central Prison and the jail authorities have allotted No.7579 to Ravela Susheel.

‘My son is innocent’, says Ravela Kishore Babu

Minister for Social Welfare Ravela Kishore Babu said that his son is innocent. Speaking to media on Sunday, he said that the police has changed the case with the influence of some prominent persons. He expressed the confidence that his son will come clean. He alleged that YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy has targeted him. He alleged that Jagan is encouraging Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham and MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga. He further said that Jagan could not attack him politically and targeted his son. He said that the video footage has been morphed and included his son in the case. YSRCP has hatched a plan in the issue, said the minister.
