Following heavy rain that lashed Guntur on Tuesday, rain water allegedly entered into the chambers of the Leader of Opposition YS Jagan Mohan Reddy in the Assembly building from the roof.

YSRCP leaders alleging that poor quality in the construction of the Assembly and the Secretariat was the cause. Meanwhile, CRDA Commissioner Ch.Sridhar who visited the building said that the leak was due to a pipe line sunk into the ceiling as part of electrical work taken up recently.

In some buildings, water entered as the sunshade was not of sufficient length. Necessary wok would be taken up, said the CRDA Commissioner. The video clippings of the water went viral in social media platforms. The maintenance staff were seen mopping the floor in the video. The social media and a few satellite channels alleged that a wall collapsed in the Secretariat under the impact of the rain that last over 20 minutes. The media was barred from entering the Assembly premises.

Leader of the Opposition in the Council Ummareddi Venkateswarlu alleged that poor quality construction caused the leak. The experts had been saying the buildings must not be constructed as the Kondaveeti Vaagu would overflow and inundate the area.
